Values and Ethos

Our Vision

At Kidbrooke Park Learning Centre (KPLC), we are committed to working in close partnership with parents and carers, home schools, external agencies and the wider community to support every child’s success.

Our aim is to provide a nurturing, inclusive learning environment where pupils are supported to develop academically, emotionally and socially. We recognise that children arrive at KPLC with different experiences, strengths and needs, and we work alongside them to help rebuild confidence, develop self-regulation and re-engage with learning.

We strive to create a shared learning community where pupils feel understood, valued and empowered to make positive progress. Through consistent relationships, high expectations and personalised support, we encourage all pupils to achieve their potential and prepare for a successful return to their home school or next stage of education.

At KPLC, we believe all pupils should:

  • Feel safe, secure and cared for within a calm and supportive environment, where their wellbeing is prioritised and successes are recognised and celebrated.

  • Have access to a high-quality, personalised education that meets their academic needs while also supporting emotional regulation, social development and physical wellbeing.

  • Be encouraged to develop confidence, resilience, independence and respect for themselves and others.

  • Learn through positive relationships, clear boundaries and restorative approaches that help them understand their choices and behaviour.

  • Experience enjoyment, fun and a sense of belonging as part of their learning journey.

Values and Ethos

Kidbrooke Park Learning Centre shares the same core values as Kidbrooke Park Primary School. These values underpin everything we do and guide how we support pupils’ learning, behaviour and wellbeing:

  • Resilience – supporting pupils to manage challenges, learn from mistakes and develop perseverance.

  • Emotional Intelligence – helping children recognise, understand and manage their emotions, and develop empathy for others.

  • Collaboration – encouraging positive relationships, teamwork and effective communication with peers and adults.

  • Integrity – promoting honesty, responsibility and accountability in a supportive and age-appropriate way.

  • Equality and Respect – ensuring every child feels valued, included and respected, and understands the importance of respecting others.

At KPLC, these values are taught and reinforced through weekly circle time sessions, assemblies and PSHE, with themes carefully chosen to meet the needs of each cohort.

We also provide opportunities for children to develop important life skills, including health, hygiene and personal safety. Pupils may take part in sessions led by visitors such as the Police, Road Safety teams, the NSPCC and other external speakers, helping them understand the wider world in a safe and supportive way.
